This machine is running WinXP (don't ask). I couldn't get versions before CS 3.4 to run.

Over in the gaming forum, someone (I don't remember who) posted a link to a UT2003 tutorial:
http://www.neomagination.com/unreal/tutorials/max2ut_01.html

In the tutorial, the author points to the MAX files released by Epic. Cool beans. So I grabbed them an tried playing with them. Apparently, these MAX files hold the animations for the various model - and I can't see them.

I pick an Epic MAX file and load it.
I get the mesh and the Biped objects all nice and tidy.
I don't get animations.
Mostly all I get is two keyframes. In at least one I can see more keyframes.
Running the scrubbar doesn't move anything in the scene - any of them - even when Biped is not in Figure mode.

I've started going through the Discreet site looking for answers. So far nothing.

Because of my earlier problems with CS and WinXP, I'm thinking this is the problem. I'm looking for patches and what-not. So far nothing.

Will someone else ripping the BIP(?) files work?

I'm vexed.

Max 5.1

edit:
I uploaded one of the MAX files. Will someone please check to see if the animations are indeed in there?

Astral, thanks for checking that file. Considering what that file is used for, I'm not sure if it's supposed to have animation or not. Just the same, thanks for checking.

Ostov, I don't have any problems with Max 5.1 and CS 3.4 - it's earlier version of CS that I have problems with, which is, I'm pretty sure, what the files were made with.

I'm pretty sure it's a backwards compatability issue with CS 3.4 and/or WinXP.

For now, I'm going to concede to being screwed.
