Hi everyone, Oleg asked me to spread the word that he's released a particle disk cache operator for pflow as a stand alone commercial plugin. This will allow you to cache unlimited amounts of particles to disk to save you calculation time and also free up memory etc. therefore allowing you to render 10's of millions of particles without 3dsmax needing to calculate or pre roll the particles. (ie. total life saver).

Prices are
$49 - Stand alone
$119 - unlimited network licenses

Good move - it's pretty much the most neccessary thing I have at the moment - sorts out any of those random noise errors too...

you forgot the catch !

" All licenses (standalone and unlimited network) are time-restricted and are issued for a one-year term. "

Oh that's for standalone too? ok I thought it was only for network licenses. I think it's a good deal, I've been asking Oleg for a while to make this as I know there's been a few jobs I've come on and needed to buy box set 3 at the studio purely for the disk cache, so box set 3 is amazing, however not always necessary if the artists just need to cache all their crazy particles.

We used this a lot on superman returns, so we could render out 70 million + particles for the opening sequence that Oleg and I worked on.

Nice thanks for the info :)

Is this the same cache to disk operator as in Box3, I assume?

I'm a little confused....it seems like a nice plugin, but after purchasing it we can only use it for a year?

havenīt used disk cache in a while since the last box#3 update. does it work properly now or do you still have to put it to every event?

I've used it as a global event and it's been behaving for me so far - I still have to test post cache operators but it's a tonne better than the original version I purchased from ts. Cachetastic!

The new disk cache is far better than the original version. Works just fine in the global event. Have not tested post cahce stuff yet though.

I would recommend not saving over the same cache multiple times though, seems to get corrupt from doing this.

cheers
