View Full Version : Help with Editable Poly option...
aliencore 03-16-2003, 01:26 AM Hey. I recently bought the book "Mastering the Art of Production with 3ds max 4" by Jason Busby and Michele Bousquet. I'm modeling the alien with an editable poly just like in the book and I came across a step that said "On the Edit Geometry rollout, click the Divide button." Maybe its because I'm using Max 5, but I can't find the divide button. I'm assuming it's something that was taken out when Max 5 was made or maybe I'm just blind. Either way could somebody point me in the right direction of using something else instead of the 'divide' command or something like that? Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Maybe he's using "editable mesh" instead of "editable poly". You can right-click on the model in the viewport and convert to editable mesh.

In the book he is definatly using an editable poly because later on it uses nurms sub-d, but what i'm looking for is in the editable mesh. I'll try that. Thanks for your help :)

Check the sub-mode.
Sounds like he's in Line mode.

Yea, in the book he's in the edge sub-object mode for editable poly. The 'divide' thing i'm looking for is in the editable mesh mode said above. Maybe I could convert to the editable mesh for that one part then switch back so I could still use nurms sub-d. What do you think?
