I changed the directory to fit mine and when I type in:
GI_Joe -- i get this:
Error: File not found.: F:Program FilesAliasWavefrontMaya4.5scriptsGIJoe.lights

Please help. The "/"'s are in there, but they don't show up. :(

Try using two backslashes instead of one:
"F:\\Program Files\\AliasWavefront\\Maya4.5\\scripts\\GIJoe.lights"

try putting it here :

C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\maya\4.5\scripts

this is where i put all my scripts and they work fine...

**user is the folder of the current user of the machine
