Interesting. Everytime I hear 'Golblins' I think of Jim Henson's Labryinth.

Still looks like you have a lot of work to do. Hope you see it through!

Thank you and yes there is work to be done but it'll be out sooner then you think!

when you say Jim Henson... I think more Dark Crystal ;) I met his duaghter at the Magic Castle, she's holding the torch for the family name and she's a lovly person to boot.

BTW Goonies is one of my favorites, I did the poster for the big goonie evet in Oregon a while ago. I am a goonie!

Stay tuned to Goblins! More to come.

Here is a a short settup to the story

In a world before time itself, in a place unlike anything we have ever seen before, a world before dinosaurs, before mankind, a secret place of wonders…

Mysterious, beautiful, magical, and sometimes dangerous, it is a world secretly reveled in every culture since the beginning of recorded human history. It is a world inhabited by creatures unimaginably powerful, and a natural world that is driven by them as they manifest the day in a grand dress rehearsal.

For thousands of years fairies and spirits have magically produced plants, changed the seasons, controlled the weather, and moved the sun and moon. They practiced this everyday so as to make things a perfectly balanced Eden. They ran everything like clockwork because they had to get it right. Their purpose? To prepare the worlds mechanisms for the welcoming of a new creature that would rule them all… mankind.

However, there are other creatures, not made for good. Evil creatures set out to cause havoc and destruction. One race of these creatures tends to be more troublesome for man then the rest. Goblins....

Looking forward to seeing more of that. Looks very nice.

With Goblins I usually think of Henson/Froud or of Woodruff (anybody remember that one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gobliiins :D)

Froud is one of the inspirations for the stories artowork.

Goblins is a combination inspirations from films like The Dark Crystal, Legend, but has very drark undertones and a darker look. Imagine Lord of the rings without the humans.

The first episode will be released This November. I'm also posting the story and starting to release content so that at the very least, my friends here at CG talk know that the story is mine and hopefully unique. I'd like to say it's a "traditional" fairytale, but then I laugh when I say that (more to come on that point later)

Here is more of the plot .... Enjoy

One day news spread across the land that the dress rehearsals were coming to an end and the world would soon welcome the first man child. From then on, they would live in perfect harmony, fairy folk and humans.

Unfortunately... three goblins in particular had other plans...

Zbub, evil to the core and Grim the plan maker hear the news of the man child and decide from that day on, that they don't like change; they don't need to be ruled by anything. In fact Grim thought it would be better to make the fairy world more “Goblin friendly” by controlling the elements and killing the human child. One of the three, Dobbs an outcast is friend to the fairies and is skeptical of the human king but not afraid. He chooses to stay at a distance watching, listening to the other two as an observing shadow of the bunch.

The two set out on a search to destroy the Fairy world with Dobbs trailing shortly behind and all to soon.... they manage to discover more then a few ways to do it. Truly I say to you, that on all hallows eve, such things are possible!

a world before dinosaurs,

Even if fantastical-history wise this throws in a wrinkle. If the goal of the plot revolves around creating the world for man-kind then aren't the dinosaurs getting skipped altogether in this history? And if so why mention them at all?

I kinda think of this sorta thing happening 'post dino' myself. But why mention them at all as they are kinda left field to setting up the time/place to the rest of your story? Because if everything turns out well then the world will be ready for man-kind. And dinos will never be.
And i like dinos-dammit. Unless its a Douglas Adams kinda thing... :)

to answer your question why the human, dino timeline referances..

Every culture in the world has some sort of tradition to explain why things go bump in the night, why things get fix and why things break. This story explains the creation of a sort of "garden of eden" or rather the very beginnings of time actually before time itself really. I guess like lots of stories in this catagory tend to have biblical influenses of good vs evil or a paradise gone wrong.

Narnia, Lord of the rings and many other stories in this tradtion have simular undertones that touch on that. I also wanted to be clear on this not being a story about humans and not being about dino like creatures but instead its about these hidden creatures "little people" that control nature. It's really a story about forces of nature, not "animals" and in my timeline, nature came before dinos and humans. but I don't want to explain to much because I'd be giving away secrets about the project.

Hope that answers your question.
