hi
cool work you got there:)
imho the image would be even better if the stand was made out of wood or some other no reflective material- it is easy and non interesting to make glas and chroma materials- this hs been done to death 10 years ago, so i would change it- this would make the katan stand out even more with its sharp reflective blade-
hope this helps

veljko-lemonade: thanks dude for the advice...i will consider that, but my idea is that the sword are in a museum, and the stand is in gold ant cristal, to give more cuality to the object, but nice idea to the wood and the sharp!:scream:

d4o2: thanks for the comment:thumbsup:

hi,
i get it now, but what i would do is think about what a museum setup means- if its in a museum then i would defenitly put the whole thing (the sword and the holder) on a pedestal of some sort- in general museums dont display things of the floor, unless its a sculpture ment to be on the floor.
Other then this i would place a wall behind the katana- if you wish you can check out my latest thread on cg "male bust" i did a museum like setup for that image-
just a tought...
There are a few tricks how to make the enviroment work without puting too much work in it, but imho alot of times people dont pay as much attention to the enviroment and this makes the image lower in quality allthough the main object is well made. Sometimes this requires just a smart placement of the camera and maybe some tought as to what do we want the background to portrait.

:)
hope this helps

hi,
There are very many and great details in a katana sword and not just the shape. Next time try using some textures and spend a little more time. Please visit link below and see how much details are there

...that the shape of the model is nice enough, but the detailing leaves a lot to be desired. On the hilt for example, there's no material at all? It should be threaded, or leather, or something. And the other suggestions are also good! We've all made quick katanas, but I think you should take it to the next level...

Hi everyone!

Here i made some updates to my katanas, and i followed the sugestions!......now we can see a background, some fur, hte holder is in wood, and it seems to be on a table or something. I think that looks much better!......But.....is there more advices?...they all are so welcome!

...much better! The wood really brings it to life. I'd still like to see some kind of thread instead of the rubber-looking or fabric grip? Reason for the thread was that when your hands get slick with sweat, it helps you grip the hilt... Also in Japanese swordlore it's customary to make it very ornamental thread, as you well know...

Top notch render though, good work!
