An image of a 'slightly modified' Supersoaker that I'm working on for a project.
Rendered with HDRI - that's real cool!

Any suggestions for improvement??

Looks like a good start!

The black looks a little . . well black. I would say to tone down the black to a 97% or more . .

Add a touch of transparency throughtout . . .

Some water drips randomly placed about the surfaces . . .

I'm all about making things look beat up. So I would add some minor but just noticable scratches to the surfaces in places that would get handled the most. OR areas that make contact with other surfaces when it's thrown down on a table or a rugged hill . . .

Finally, slap it on a front yard with some other props to make it look like a play torn area perhaps?

Add water squirting out?

Hi Medula

yeah the black is PRETTY dark isn't it... I first lit it with a couple of normal lights and that looked ok, but with the HDRI image it's much 'heavier' than intended but the rest of the image (to me) looked so good that I wanted to show it anyway.
I modeled from a photgraph of the Supersoaker site and those things are brandnew ofcourse, so.. no scratches - but you're right.. it can do with some 'beating up' I think - make it look 'used' - I'll look in to that and come back with it later

thanx so far!

also If i remember the supersoakers from my early years correctly, there was a sort of antistrophic effect on the holding tanks, as if when it was cast, molded, or whatever(I dont know much about plastic manufacture) it would form antistrophic lines kinda a brushed plastic look if you know what I mean.
