Here might be one of the best location i have found....what do you think about it?

CobraX

Here is the second one....i don;t know which one to take.

Also, as you can see, the quality is very poor, as i had to compress the pics a lot due to the size quota of attachements.

If anyone knows where to get hosted freely please drop a libe :( thanks!

I just had an idea and i need your advices please :)

Do you think that it would be possible of using the water, by that i mean to put some kind of structure underwater and we could see the lights of the building and the basic shape and some moving ships under water.

Easy? Takes Time or should i Forget about it?

I'm not much of an expert, but if you can pull it of, it'll be great IMHO.

Ok here is a quick render of my camera mapping, it looks odd, and the water is acting too weird.

I don't know what to do.

Suggestions are very very welcomed Thank you.

you should just need to replace the water with a reflective plane / grid or whatever it might be called. if you wanna be fancy, try some animated displacement/bump map on it for waves.

you will probably have to make your own complete skydome, since it will reflect in the water as well but that shouldnt be a problem...

Thank you stimpy for the Tips :D

here is an other attempt at my camera mapping

But There is still problems with the projection in the back.

If someone can guide, so as to make this a perfect ...hehe..a near perfect camera mapping..

Please :)

Here is a new update with an attempt to replace the water by the ocean Shader in Maya 4.5.

Basicly, i took the default 'Normal ocean' and tweaked it just a little so as to match how i wanted it to be, regarding color and ripples. I am not satisfied with it yet. Just let me know what you think...:wavey: if there is someone outhere reading my post...

http://cobraxvfx.tripod.com/Water3.avi

I'll be tweaking a little more my water, will be arranging my camera movement, and i will start to model right away props for my Oupost.

If i get the time i'll try to have to ships have some interaction with the water....taking samples of it, making some splashes.

hey man, that's looking ace :buttrock:

love the water. really makes the shot come to life

LightFreeze

the water looks good close to the camera but its maybe too `busy`, perhaps if you increase the wavelength or slow it down,
the real test will be when you add geometry and the scale suggests what size the body of water is and whether the waves match this

keep up the good work

if there is someone outhere reading my post...

I have that worry too, crits are few and far with this challenge

ps I couldnt see the `Set.jpg` pic

I'd keep the water smooth and calm like in the picture then you can have a craft fly over it and do a texture magnitude in relationship to the object to make it look like it effected the water with a life span to slowly die back down to calm for a nice fly over effect. As far as stuff underwater I think that would be cool even if its just rough shapes with lights. You could just add some atmospheric fog to the space under the water plane to cut the clarity and give the feel of underwater as well as refraction.

Blue Cougar, LightFreeze, Equinoxx!!! Thak yo ufor the feedback!
I need it!

:D

I changed the water a little bit it was too agotated and i perfected a little thegeometry of my Scene so it actually match th epicture better.

Also i did some painting with the clone tool in photoshop so as to fill the empty space that the picture had...not to easy to explain tho...

So it's about to be done for the environnement. I shall start modelling now.

Then Texture.
Then Dynamics, Particules.
Then Light everything.

:D I WILL finish THIS!

Here are the goods!

Water....hum. Looks great, but there is a problem.
just wondering did you stick with a shader or dynamics?
It looks like you have to many ripple overlays in one spot.
You might want to create a layer shader that will create a bubble or dead spot in the water, Eddie. Where the water can bubble up from the bottom. It needs to be broken up better than what you have it.

But please keep it the same color and for the part close to the camera, Keep the way you have it. Im just thinking it would be nice to have a breakup.

You should be able to attach setup the shader like the lighting group they did in the AW video. Where you have a controling sphere with it attached to a ramp. I did that for a layered sand texture and it came out ok...Mostly because I suck at this stuff.

Always learning.

Great job so far and cant wait to see it finished.
