Hello i'm new.

At this time i work with maya ple. I've saved all my money for one year. Now i have got enough for maya. But i dont want to buy just before the release of version five or after a price increase.

So should i buy now or wait?

My next problem is that i want to buy a new computer in autum. Can i move maya easyly from one computer to another?

Oh, you may check out my texturgallery at http://www.marc-brink.com/artistarea/index.html

If you dont have an immediate project , i would say wait until maya 5 is out , or when they announce you'll get a free upgrade to maya 5 when its released.

you can transfer your network card from your old computer and use your license in the new comp

Check out Wings 3D! It rocks for modeling. BTW, when is Maya 5 coming out?

So, you're thinking of buying Maya. Complete or Unlimited?...I had the same dilemma not too long ago when 4.0 came out. I decided to go ahead and make the purchase with a dongle. 4.5 came out several months after, which I upgraded but that costed me another $700+. I considered upgrading Max too but it was going to be another $795 out of my pocket. I only upgraded Maya because of the features that was going to be ported over from Unlimited and Mental Ray. I'll prb upgrade to Maya 5.0 when it comes out - dunno exactly when.

I'm finally getting into film work using Maya after a year of working at a game studio that was using Maya. As you can see it's pretty flexible that one can go from games to film works, and back to games. Or that's the way it's working out for me.

I found Maya to be a good investment as I've listed some examples why I believe to be beneficial.

Then get a dongle. It's going to be another $150 but you can
go from one machine to another just using the dongle. Make sure you install Maya tho on the machines you're going to use, and when a license prompt comes up make sure you check the dongle option. A|W will send you the key to dongle.

a/w gives a free upgrade to anyone who buys the software within 45 or 90 days(I forget) of a new version being released.

OK thank you all

thanks for the tip with the 44 or 50 days.
I think i will take the dongle. That's good so i can use both computers.
I think i will wait a litle bit and buy in summer.
