View Full Version : any adobe encore proīs out there?

hi,
im trying to fiddle out how the "main timeline" (german: hauptschnittfenster), that i can specify in the disc properties, behaves after authoring a disc.

i often have difficulties to understand what happens when i stop a dvd (that was authored in Encore) at a certain point and play it again with the play button. some weird things do happen most times. maybe this has to do with this specified "main timeline".

this is new in encore 2.0 and not documented in the german help.

maybe someone out there can help me with this.

hy !

i'm not sure to understand exactly your problem ! You want that at the end of the video , you go back to the main menu ? Or you have correctly setup The "end action" of your timeline , but it gives you weird result when you lunch the DVD ?

at first i need to know what the "main timeline" (specified in disc settings) is good for. what is the special behaviour of this timeline?

Well i can't find the "Main Timeline" ? When i make DVD with encore i work with several Timelines ,but there is no main timeline ! Here is my process .

- i transcode my files in pemiere in .mpeg because Encore transcoder is pretty bad
- i create my menu under photoshop and save as .psd
- i import my . mpeg movies as asset then create a timeline for each one
- i put the chapters on each timeline
- then i import my .psd menu
- i connect my buttons to the good timeline with the dynamic linker
- i connect each timeline end action, to the main menu
- i check that all is OK with the Preview
- and that's it , i export as .iso

That's all

i'm afraid i don't answer your question , but i can't really see where is your problem.

hmmm. i really know all this basic stuff. the dvd im authoring right now is fairly complex with many movies and a game. so i should know what this feature could do for me.

shows what itīs all about. whats the name for it in the english version?

and what the hell is it good for? maybe its documented in the english help file?

well i've check in the us doc , and they're is just one article related to the "main timeline". And it's not directly connected ! i'm sorry i an't help you more , but it looks that your problem is for good encore user! I'm just the guy that import mpeg and connect it to basic menu !

seems like the us documentation is 1:1 the german one. except the language ;-)

maybe this feature is better documented in the upcoming release of encore cs3.
