Hi there

- is it possible to create selection sets (a la mudbox) in zb3 so i can access parts quickly and hide/ unhide the particular sets?

- how do i pickup my "tool" once on the canvas (once losing the selection/ drawing ability that sometimes occur)? or do i have to start all over by creating a new document and then drawing it on the canvas again?

- is there any wiki-list of all the zb hotkeys listed?

(i'm currently trying to go through the rtfm part but can't find it all immediatly.)

thanks so much for suggestions/ tips

To answer your first question: the selection sets I think you're looking for are called "polygroups." You can select polygons by using ctrl + shift + click/drag to select various (ctrl + shift +click/drag release shift to deselect) polygons or use the lasso tool by clicking the button on the shelf to the right of the canvas (same method, ctrl + shift + click/drag). Once you have polygons hidden you can then assign them to polygroups by going to tool>polygroups>group visible. You can also do auto grouping but the above way yields more control over selection groups. Once you have your polygroups defined you can ctrl+shift click a known group and the other polygons will disappear.

The second method would be to assign the polygroups to subtools or import different parts into a tool by going into rapid mode file>import then as subtool. There's plenty of documentation on www.zbrush.info regarding subtools.

To answer your second question: If I understand you correctly you have "dropped" your model to the canvas and can't get rid of it. There are two layer sets in zbrush now. One that concentrates on geometry and works like a history for a subtool (more on this at www.zbrush.info) and then the layer palette that works like photoshop layers. If you want to clear the document all you really need to do is go up to layer>clear or press ctrl+N. You can then redraw the tool to the canvas and edit it again or do anything to your fancy.

As for the third question: If you hold down ctrl over any of the buttons or options in zbrush you will get a description of what that function does as well as a keyboard shortcut. As for a concise collection of said quick keys. I don't know of any page that has this. It doesn't mean it isn't out there though.

Hope this helps.
