View Full Version : Blender in Ubuntu Studio Menu Buttons not working
Arrrgh4life 05-19-2007, 06:00 PM Hey, I have installed Ubuntu Studio on my computer, and am having some issues with Blender. I open it, and I am able to navigate the 3D space fine, but none of the menu buttons that line the top of each of the windows works. I am running dual monitors using the ATI propriatary drivers. I also tried Blender 2.44, and I have the same issue. I have windows dual booted on this computer, and it seems to work fine with windows. Anyone know whats wrong? and how to fix it?
Thanks
-Paul

proprietary drivers as in those from the ati/amd's homepage? i belive you might want to try the other ones, ati itself warns people of those drivers, tho for some they might work, well, my point is, try the other ones, they might work better..

Im using the fglrx drivers, because I needed those to enable Big Desktop for Dual Monitors. But I suppose I could try using the open source drivers and a different method of using Dual Monitors.

report all driver bugs to your driver manufacture, if vendors are aware of demand to make sure specific software works with their hardware the more they will do to ensure that they fix the bugs that that software encounters in their driver.

So, I switched over to the open source drivers, and also went ahead and installed beryl and compiz, which I have to say, are pretty cool, but Dual Monitors was acting up, and 3D was slow, so I switched back to the fglrx drivers, and magicaly, blender works like a charm! I dont know how, but I sure am happy, thanks.
lol, haha, yeah.. the linux 'magic': *just play around with it and ittle work out!* LOL :D
