View Full Version : 64-bit?
Does anyone know if there is a 64-bit version of ZB3? I thought it would be available for download from the start but they only have a 32-bit version available.

It's true, there is no real 64 bit version, BUT, Zb3 is compatible to x64 an will use your amount of Ram, so nothing to worry about.(that's official, aurick mentioned it)
So it's a 32-bit app that can address more than 4 GB of RAM?

Yes,.
Hi,
This is what it should be. ZBrush 3 is not a 64-bit app. It is a 64-bit compatible app. There's a difference. :)
It will make use of the extra RAM that 64-bit operating systems make available, but is still seen as a 32-bit app so that it can also run on 32-bit computers.

Pixologic should have mentioned that officialy on the mainpage, because this question pops out very often.
Thanks for the info schuubars. I didn't know such a thing was possible.
Actually I'm still wondering about this. I haven't been able to push it above 4GB on my system (XP64, 6GB) and in any case the Compact Memory slider seems to be capped at 4GB. On the other hand, while ZB is installed as a 32-bit .exe it does depend on numerous 64-bit Windows dll's which is pretty interesting.

Maybe a bug, don't know, can't test it with my home machine because it has only 4gb.
Write a mail woul'd be good i guess.
btw, you should easly beable to go up to 25M(or more, but i tried not more) raw polygons, that should be bridge between waiting, if its a bug, or something else *erhm*.
