Hi Fellas,

I am giving a shot at matte painting. I will use the following images to create the main background and the city. Send critics and suggestions...lol. Background pic courtesy of Julia Wahl, thanks. City pic a render from a 3d city model.

I will use Photoshop CS and Painter.

In this one I combined the image by duplicating and then flip-horizontal. Then I merged layers to clean some marginal noise.

Next I am starting on the Sky. I want the clouds to be a lil bit lower/visible and then the rest of the sky kinda cloudy-smoothen... I will replace the blue part with a white layer.

>>>>>>>>>>>>Gosh, I posted in a wrong forum! I meant to post in Digital Matte Painting! Forum Leader Beaker: can you please move my Thread to Digital Matte Painting? Sorry for the trouble.

It's cool that you post your methods too. Good start... but the mirroring is pretty apparent. What are you going to do to add variation, so it's not symmetrical?

Yes, mirroring is very visible! I will brush off some rocks, increase some erosion and change some formation. I will post changes later, thanks.

I tried to disguise the mirroring by using clone too, healing and air brush on the clouds.

I played around with the clouds, and the city hue's and light

Hi, well eventhough you used clone tool to erase some of the obvious mirror details, I think it still looks symetrical in shape and visual balance, and the city does not match the perspective you already have.

Ya! I will continue to play around, and see what I can do best. Thank you for your critics.
