Sad that BA is down. Does anyone know how long it will be before it's up again? //MathiasI've also been trying to access the site just to ask about the new Blender book. I really would like to order it from the Blender site, but how many weeks would it arrive in Toronto after the shipping date?
BTW, Mathias, I see that your artwork made it in the cover (http://www.blender3d.org/e-shop/product_info.php?products_id=96).:)

Probably 5-10 days. I think that is how long my Elephants Dream took to get to Alaska.

I have to admit I am an Addict to Blenderartist.org, I found myself staring at the screen like a lost puppy all morning, until the announcement was made on Blendernation.

It did force me to "get out" more, and I discovered I could feed my hunger by reading the Dev Forums on Blender.org, even though there's nothing for me to post there... at least there is still information to glean from it :)

Congrats Mathias on the cover art - good exposure!!

I also got to see the thread on BMesh, and that really makes sense, even to somebody who is code illiterate - nice work Briggs and Zanqdo!!

Probably 5-10 days. I think that is how long my Elephants Dream took to get to Alaska.I really need the book desperately. I particularly need to get acquainted with the new features which are overwhelmingly numerous to list here. I need to learn the nodal system from another perspective, for instance. Sculp mode, multi-res, then the new modifiers like Array and so on. I'm curious, though. Is the forthcoming Essential Blender going to have a pdf or html equivalent that could be downloaded for free like the previous Blender 2.3 guide? If yes, I still encourage everyone to buy the new book from the Blender Foundation. It will not only help hone your 3d skills using Blender but help encourage the developers and hasten its development.

Hi everyone,

This is my second post over on these forums.

I've been observing the way they run their animation challenges over here for a while now. There seems to be a higher rate of participation in these ones, but perhaps there is just a larger proportion of active animators here than over at BA. ;)

I'll hang around here too... That BA shutdown was a great thing, finally, I never had a deep look at cgtalk before... What I liked much is the diversity, it is the contrary of blenderartists, where everyone talks about blender... here you are just a topic among others :) i liked much the very diversified mini-challenges too...
