Brazil does have a skin shader in the works. I don't own it myself so I'm not sure if it has been released yet: http://www.splutterfish.com/sf/gallery_view.php?photo_id=172&screen=0&cat_id=4&action=images

if you want to make a good skin material, i think in a human head you must to draw it.
like the guys of final fantasy they must to build (or paint) his own diffuse, specular and bump maps, you can see the procces in.

For what it's worth - Yes, Brazil r/s offers a skin shader. Saw some great images done with it last night - we'll see if they get made public.
You can't easily fake this stuff since it combines two sub-surface scattering types besides your regular maps. It doesn't replace them, just helps (a lot.)

Nah, it looks ugly in that render at least. ZeBoxx, do you have links to any of these better images?

Heya,
Nope - as far as I know they're not public... but they may be.. I'll have to ask around.
The image in the Tech Preview gallery is just that - a tech preview... wouldn't put too much value on it for real life use, though it does exhibit some of the basic characteristics.

Welp, looks like the gallery was updated.. it's pretty much just tossed in there, so here's two direct links...

There's another one of the above, but apparently it's not posted - it shows off the deep vs shallow scattering very nicely.
'guess you could bug the author for a peek :)

*shudder*
These people make some pretty sweet stuff, all human body-related.
I'm under NDA, but if I wasn't I'd have some wicked stories to tell about what we've helped them with :)
Alright - be sure to check out the rest of the gallery as well... there's more stuff added that isn't Skin-related.
Enjoy!
Kindest regards,
Richard Annema

For the curious, Irfan updated his website.
The other Skin shader pic which apparently isn't in the sf gallery, is available here :

If you're a registered Brazil user, you've had access to the Skin shader since version 1.14.
