Hi All

I've recently finished an animation test of my character, "Tido".

I think I've been in front of the computer too long to tell if anything looks weird or not. I really would appreciated if you gurus out there can critic my animation. I have never done much character animation so please critic as much as possible if anything looks weird. Thanks for your help and time everyone.

I checked this out yesterday but didn't have time to critique it.

Sorry about that, but here's what I think now, bit late. :D

The walk in looks pretty good. Of course you could make it better though.
When he reacts to the spear hitting the ground the position looks good, but when he jumps out you only have 3 frames of anticipation, 5 or 7 would look better with this character.
When he leaps forward from the take position, keep his left foot on the ground 2 or 3 more frames, get it to straighten out so it looks like he is pushing off of it.. Right now it looks like he just floats to the next pose.

Whenever your character goes to a new pose his feet are getting there at the same time. Space out the feet a couple frames.

Get some alternating poses when he is pulling the spear, have his arms twitching. Bend the spear more.. GO EXTREME!!!
O not to mention its a bit falic.. rotate the character a bit. It looks like he's .... you know..hehehe:scream:

It looks like he is just letting go of the spear as opposed to the spear wripping out of his hands.

I see he gets creamed with the pole right in the face.. THAT IS COOL.!!!
So you should sell that more. more frames of impact, more frames of reaction.
as well you need more frames in the tumble, and use the arms and feet for follow through in the tumble, it sells it more.
His butt is only near the ground for two frames on first impact, its hard to take that in.
Actually when I look at it again it looks alright, but it looks like its going pose to pose instead of flowing.
on butt, on head, on back... that what I take in.

I love the feet twitch on the ground..
I always do that..hehehe

So thats what I think. Some things I might be wrong on though. Try em out if they work good, if they dont

Hope to see an updated version.

Hi Rudity

Thanks for the detailed analysis Rudity. You've been really helpful. Is it possible if you can you elaborate on what you are saying here...

O not to mention its a bit falic.. rotate the character a bit. It looks like he's .... you know..hehehe

What's falic? I am kind of lost with what you are saying. Thanks for your help Rudity. :scream:

Silly me I spelt it wrong.

Its phallic.
It means it has alot of sexual connotation in it.

He's holding a long spear inbetween his legs with a grimacing face.
It is phallic in the sense that it looks like he is masturbating.
Though that was not your intention, it can be taken that way.
You gotta watch these things, especially when demonstrating weight and force..

Hope that clears it up for you..

i agree with rudity.. go EXTREME with ur poses!!. :)
you could make the spear bend more when he's pulling it. and have his body leaning backwards more.he almost stayed static when he's pulling the spear.. which is not nice. other than that.
good work. :)
