If a clothed character was to be animated, what would be the best way to go about it? Would it be better to rig the clothes as part of the overall mesh, or have it as a separate mesh controlled by a cloth sim?

Hi,

You can do it either way really depending upon the style of character and how realistic you want the clothes to look.

It's a lot easier weighting the clothes to the bones but it doesn't look very realistic. On the other hand cloth simulations can at times be a real pain and need a lot of fixing if the animation uses some extreme movements.

I think i'll just make it part of the mesh, so i won't have to deal with a second mesh. thanks a lot for answering.
