Hey everyone, im going to try to enter this challenge. I kind of know how to do this stuff so it'll be a help. For the compositing ill be using after effects, and for the 3d i'll be using electric image with maybe some max. As for concept ill be using Feng Zu's ideas (for insipration of course) and for the bg plate i'll be using one from this (http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~komarek/notwork/kauai/kauai2.html)

the huts are part of where the scientists live, that falicity on the back is where they do their actual testing and sendin the information "home". And those are exhaust pipes for the different tests.
