So essentially it's the, "disaster/Godzilla movie formula with giant transforming robots from outerspace bent on the destruction/enslavment of mankind and its up to the small group of protaganist to save the day by the skin of their teeth amid massive destruction and suspense packaged in beautiful display of cinematography and FX", movie of the summer.

Seems cool to me, I thought Armaggedon was fun so I'm sure this will be too. Just be sure to leave your brain at the door.

Dreamworks has screened the movie for an audience in a city in Arizona. They are making changes based on the feedback from a survey given to the audience after they watched the movie. It's apparently gotten great feedback. I know this from colleagues working on the show.

Does anyone know more about this screening process? That is, the random people that got to see the movie that day ... can they in turn write a review and post it online, or even tell others about the movie? Or are they bound by an NDA?

The trailer looks great. I'm a G1 fan, and I was very skeptical about the new designs. But seeing them in this trailer has shown me that they can indeed work. The addition of the original transforming sound (1:38) was a great touch. I love how Bonescrusher tackles Optimus like a linebacker on the last shot of the trailer. Or how Megatron stomps on Jazz (2:08).

Should be a fun movie.

As cruddy as I thought this trailer was, there were a few shots that looked amazing and I am sure this will be a fun, leave your brain at the door, experience.

Considering this is based off of a toy line aimed at small children, I can't imagine them trying to shoehorn a deeply artistic social commentary into the movie, so I think it's fairly obvious this isn't going to require much thinking beyond primal "oooh explosions."

Yes that is Megatron. He transforms into an alien jet. You don't see the jet in the trailer, but you can see wings in 2:08 on Megatron's back as well as the afterburners under his feet.

Besides the Beetle next to the Camaro, if see at 0:33 hanging on the rear view mirror of the Camaro is an air freshner of a bumblebee.

That movie is going to be HUGE in Japan. I can definitely see a lot of anime influence in their poses and fluid movements because until now, western robots have always been stiff automatons, except in cartoons.

yeap thats starscream doing 360 flip while transforming..lol, it comes from cartoon version, which didn't flip as much. you can also see the shot of F22 doing almost stall before landing and transforming to reduce speed, thats nice as well. he look more agile than others robots.

There's a pretty big difference between "I will eat babies before I see it" and "I think they're f'n ugly."

I still think the designs are f'n ugly; seeing them in motion doesn't change that. But this trailer is like, a really ugly ballet dancer :) This will be the first movie I'll see solely for the kickass fx in a while.

I don't think the rigging would be as complicated as... Davy Jones for instance, they don't have to worry about muscle simulation, skin sliding, phoneme, etc. A lot of scripting perhaps.

Yeah, as well as some cool home video spoof footage of Grimlock, Laserbeak, Kickback, Reflector (I'm guessing) as well as security footage of Bumblebee as a VW Bug. Cute stuff.

Yaawn- this looks like another flick that after the first 10 scenes of robots transforming you
are left with no story, predicitible ending and lots of cheap thrills...

I wonder how they will portray energon in the movie as it was a big issue in the original series that both sides fought for.

Something minor I picked up from the trailer, the intro bit where the dad is driving past the porsche garage...you can see in the window reflection of the showroom the car used for filming with the camera rig on.
