Here's a few renders of my near finished model. I aimed for around 3500 polys and it ended up being around 3300. The first pic is my concept drawing...

03-15-2003, 08:57 AM
Thanks for the nice comments so far, guys. I prob won't get around to putting here in an actuall game. It'd be cool though. I'll post the wrframes tommorow. cheers!

Woah, really amazing job! On first sight, when I only saw the skin, I thought it might be unfitting, but on the model itself it really kicks ass! Great job, even if the polycount of 3300 is a bit too high, for my tast ;) For what game will it be used? Which software did you use, if you have not already mentioned :p

Very cool model, textures are great, best feature is the anatomy. The legs that is, they look great.... :)
03-15-2003, 12:41 PM
very very cool. It's got a matrix/tomb raider feel to it.
03-15-2003, 12:46 PM
she looks great. really nice model. love the syle on her hair.
are you gonna enter her in the cgchat assassin comp? : she'd do well methinks :) ;)
03-15-2003, 04:39 PM
Great Girl you Got there!
Mind doing a "wallaper render"?
03-15-2003, 06:30 PM
I like your work. Your textures are awesome. I also want to see the wires.
03-15-2003, 06:44 PM
Great work! Nice texturing and highlights in the leather|vinyl. Great pose also.
Your poly count... is that for quads or triangles? Post some wireframes.
03-15-2003, 06:54 PM
Thanks for the comments!
cANT: I used Maya and Photoshop. It won't be used for any games... need to find a job so that my models will be used in games.:) I was trying to get my poly count around what they are using in games now.
Regnan: Yeah the legs are my fav as well. Thanks.
KWAK: I was going for the Matrix look! Well Matrix, William Gibson and many other cyberpunk influences.
cakeypigdog: Can I still enter?
Hellwolve: Once I make a bg I'll post a wallpaper. Any suggestions on the bg?
MaTibay520: Wires are comming... kinda busy today but I should get it done later on.
adam/zeliasz: The highlights in the leather were the last thing I did... it was the thing that tied it all in.

Ofcourse! Right here:
-Metal plating & grating
-Matrix style 1's and 0's. You know, that green scribbling.
03-15-2003, 07:06 PM
Dude, if you have time, do a dark alley w/ a lot of garbage for her background. That could be sweet
03-15-2003, 07:26 PM
Looking good matt, your best model yet. Glad to see this one turned out - i know you put a lot of hours into it. One minor quibble, I do think the skin tone is a bit on the gray side.
03-15-2003, 07:31 PM
Great work! If I can make one suggestion it would be to render her with a dark orangish brown ambient light setting, right now it appears to be grey or black which really dulls out all the colors.
03-15-2003, 08:36 PM
Thanks for the bg suggestions guys. Don't think I'll go with the Matrix 0s and 1s... that'd be a little cliche. I was really aiming for more of a William Gibson(lives in my city!) feel. I agree with you Erik... I plan on lighting her with warm colours and maybe doing the bg in dark cool colours. Maybe put some skyskrapers or something.
Glad you like it now, Daryl. It is weird how it turned out... wasn't looking like it would a while back. I'll prob play around with the skin colour a bit.

Wow man thats finally a great model with style here. You are in my top ten now :)
03-16-2003, 02:44 AM
Heya just curious if U went to school in Vancouver, and if you did which one? (that is um... 3d / digital school of some kind)....
03-16-2003, 09:22 AM
Prs-Phil: Thanks, I really aim to put style in my models... I think that's something that a lot of 3d lacks is style and character. Glad I'm in ur top 10.
Regnan: Yeah I went to VFS... about a year and a half ago. Was in the classical animation and the Maya program. You?
03-16-2003, 10:34 AM
well the deadline is the 20th and people are still entering. i reckon if you step in now with this it might 'inspire' the other entries into a final spurt of effort for the deadline.
if you've made the character during the time frame of the competition i cant see there would be a problem: the chap running the competition is a top bloke: hes not overly concerned with beurocracy, just great artwork. its a great comp with some very nice entries. i reckon this one would fit right in.
just go to
and add your thread. this is the wip area. to actually enter the comp you need to add your final images to another thread. to do that i reckon you should read the guidelines first: here (http://www.cgchat.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12078)
so that you make sure you submit everything that is required. good luck if you choose to enter: i really think you will have a good shot at winning it: and its gotta be a good thing to stick on your portfolio/resume. plan on doing quite well myself if i can find the time to finish my texturing and skinning by the deadline.
nice wires btw, a very good clean mesh youve made.
03-16-2003, 10:46 AM
Heya Sketch, ya I was in Maya class 08 (at VFS), and I thought your icon rang a bell. I recognize it now , from the hallway at school lol.....
03-17-2003, 01:54 AM
Thanks for the info cakeypigdog... I'll try and enter as soon as I get the chance.
Regnan, did like the course? My pic is in the halway now... wasn't before.
03-17-2003, 08:49 AM
WOW  Looks great!!!
Reminds me of Armitage III
Was that your inspiration? ;) :p
03-17-2003, 10:20 AM
Heya Sketch, yep I thought the course was cool.....
03-17-2003, 07:42 PM
Krystman: Thanks. Nope wasn't influenced by her at all. Not really into anime these days.
03-18-2003, 10:35 PM
Man, that looks sweet. Great great great work. I love it.
If you die...can i have your brain? :insane:
03-20-2003, 03:14 AM
Interesting wireframe. I wonder what she'd look like with her arms at her sides, or how her thighs would behave in a crouched position. And what would you bind the bottom of her jacket to? Her lower vertebrae? or would her clavicle motion somehow come into play?
03-20-2003, 08:34 AM
so nice and very clean wires!
03-21-2003, 03:33 PM
Thanks for the nice comments.:bounce: AgentX, you can have my brain when I die.... going to cost you though. Big time.
03-22-2003, 04:32 PM
Great! Do you take money orders? Or do I have to use PayPal?
03-22-2003, 05:51 PM
wow. Fresh model.
05-29-2003, 10:43 PM
Thought I'd mise as well post this... just a quick turnaround of the model. Not sure about video on the web so hopefully it all works...
