Hello All,

I'd love to hear what you all think about my newest matte painting. I've been working on this for too long and would like to finish it within the next day or two so I can move on to the next one. All C&C welcome.

Thank you Jay! Much appriciated. I actuallly did a small revision b/c I realized at the bottom right there is a rock that's not composited at all. I'm not sure how I missed that but i forgot to turn that layer off before I posted it. Oh, and I added some more smoke etc. but it's essentially done now. The final image is in my cg portfolio and my website http://mirmarg.com/volcano.html

Hi MirMarg, your most welcome. The thing is, I have just completed my first matte composition that also features a volcano and I struggled to find any decent referece materials. I also struggled with the lava on my volcano and found that even real photos of volcanos errrupting didnt provide what I considered realistic looking lava, if that makes any sense.

However, your image has some of the best and what I would consider realistic looking lava I have ever seen. As for forgetting to turn one of your layers on, thats easily done. It wasnt until I had posted my compostion for review that I too noticed that I had missed elements out, but when your working with so many layers I think its easy to miss.

Anyways, well done on a great composition.

L8rz,

Jay
