View Full Version : Help with (MB and 3D MAX)

Hi every one
after i have imported a charecter from 3ds max with facial morphs on it into motionbuilder, then i tried to use charecter face to animate the face of the charecter but all the morphes are not there
just to make it more clear i have added photos of the steps that i have done:

every thing is fine inside 3ds max:-

there is a number of morph targets:-

i exported the file in FBX format(am using the latest update):-

Now i have opened the FBX file in MotionBuilder:-

The file did opene with no problems:-

So Now i have added a character face to the modle:-

And finaly the problem the character face is added but there is no shapes(morphs):-

i don know what is the problem i think i have done every thing correctly but there might be some thing wrong ?! so please if any one can help with any thing please do so,if i get this right i will be ready to GO:) .

check that your mesh does indeed have the targets on it in motionbuilder. pick the mesh and look at its properties for shapes if not then you need to look in to what is happening/setup wrong in max for the exporter to create the shapes.

Put the morph modifier on top of the stack before exporting.

brade can u be more specific on the steps, and if i can't fined the shapes at the properties so how can i fix it in 3ds max "the fourth image show the exporting setups" is there any thing wrong in the setups??

Markcus dont you thing that this will missup the skin " i haven't tried that yet" and i will ;) thank you
i will look into the advices when i get back home and i hope i get good results:)

Just put the morpher on top for export and import. After that put it back where it was.

i traied to put the morpher up the stack as you told me Markcus ,but when i start exporting max freezes ,it happens when exporting the morphers "i see that down the bar".!!??
so another thing what if i exported the file without skin will i be able to import the facial animation back in my original max file "its like having 2 FBX file one for body motion and the other is for facial animation". i hop that works as i will have may final rendering on 3ds max but first need to go back home and try it:shrug: .

Finally i was aple to make it work :bounce:

i saved the character in two file (one with the bones and skin. the other with morph targets only) and i can now make the face animation then export them to 3ds max, then open the other file and do the motion animation and export them too into 3ds max.
this way i did it with you'r help.:applause:
so i just want to say that i did post the same the same qustion to some other forums but you are the only guys who helped me
