Title: Living Canvas
Name: Lawrence Koh Choon Teck
Country: United States
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

The tattoo on the left is a Merlion which is a symbol of Singapore, my country. It is a hybrid of lion and fish. The Merlion came from the legend of Prince Sang Nila Utama, who saw a lion while hunting on an island which later become Singapore.

The American eagle, as seen on the right tattoo, is the national emblem of the United States. It was selected by the USA's founding fathers because it is a species unique to North America. The bald eagle is the living symbol of the USA's freedoms, spirit and pursuit of excellence.

This image is inspired by the amiable relatsionship between USA and Singapore and the United States-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) which was signed in 2003. It is the first ever FTA signed between the United States and an Asian nation. It enhances mutual prosperity and reinforce the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The model is created in Maya and Zbrush with texture painted in Photoshop. The image is rendered with Mental Ray.

Cheers.

The proportions are fine, the skin colour - which is very hard to get ! - is nice, too, but the only thing I could reproach is that I think the bottom doesn't appear in relief.
It seems like it's flat, especially the left cheek. Maybe it's the lighting set, maybe it's the tatoo, I don't know.

It's a small thing to notice, it's never obvious.

Good job after all.

Keep going !
