View Full Version : 8.1 up again
Hi all,
you will find the new updaters at the Maxon site.
Download (http://www.maxon.de/pages/download/download_updates_e.html)
It should even work with a faulty installation produced by the previous updater.

are you using a program like download accelerator or get right?, that could be causing it to ask for one, either that or the only download location has to to many connections

Hi,
this happens when no anonymous login is available due to to many downloads and when your browser does not interpret the resulting error message of the FTP server correctly.
You will have to try again until a login becomes available. We limited the number of simultaneous connections so that every download will work with a reasonable speed.

Hi,
you can try to install it over your existing version, but i recommend installing 8.012 and then running the new updater.

I just installed the updater on my system (C4D, AR, BP). It took its time, but it all works smoothly now.
A big and heartfelt thanks to the whole Maxon crew for this updater and for the extra work of fixing it so quickly.

So, what would happen if you updated 8.012 to 8.1 and then bought some extra modules in 6 months or so? Would you have to uninstall 8.1, reinstall 8.012, then apply the modules, then reapply the 8.1 update?

http://www.cosmicbear.de/icons/aargh.gif WTF!!! the damn server keeps cancelling my download when i reach 19,7 mbytes. being on dial-up this is getting expensive after the fourth try!! why is maxon not able to provide a cd to order? i rather pay a couple of euros to get it on cd and be sure that nothing is wrong with the updater than be online for hours, being not able to do anything else and end up with a download that's not finished!

If you're on dial-up it's imperative you use a download manager such as gozilla http://download.com.com/3000-2071-10008371.html?legacy=cnet or get right http://download.com.com/3000-2071-10192319.html?tag=lst-0-1
It allows you to resume broken/unfinished downloads...

no problem. the new updater also handles these cases.
if you updated from 8.012 to 8.1 and later you install a 8.012 module (e.g. dynamics) you can run the updater again over the installation and it will "autorepair" your c4d installation. so your installed 8.012 dynamics wil be updated to 8.1 dynamics ...
please note that this will only work with the latest updater.

Hey all,
I have tried downloading the windows version of the new 8.1 update a few times now and keep getting a CRC error when tring to unzip it.
Is it just me? More to the point.....with only 4% compression is is worth Zipping anyway? (sorry....just annoyed about the error)

get advanced zip repairer.. i think i got it from www.download.com not sure, but this has somehow managed to recover quite a few corrupt downloads (fixes both zip and self extracting files)
I am getting a CRC error as well.
I was able to download it last Friday with no errors, but now when I tried I get a CRC error.

Hey guys :)
Ive tried since it first came out to download the windows version, but everytime I try I get a 404. Am I doing something wrong? It works for the Apple version, but thats not what I need. Is there another link somewhere or someone else hosting it? I tried Kazza, but all I found was some old plugins. Any help would be appreciated :).

strange ... i compared the archive from friday to the download from now ... and there is one single bit different to the original archive ...
it seams the maxon uk server have a disk error or something ... we need to upload the archives again ...
(if you can use a hexeditor you can change the byte at position 0x344003 from 0xFF to 0xF7 ... then the file is repaired :-)))
i think we can fix this error in the next hour ...
thanks
