BeeVee 03-14-2003, 09:07 AM Hi,
I spoke with Dino "Mascio" Mascitelli from Atlanteq in Italy about his work on new sideways scrolling shoot-em-up T-Zwei and the inspiration behind his work.
You can read the interview here in English: http://www.newtek-europe.com/uk/community/lightwave/atlanteq/atlanteq_1.html

I've been playing the demo a lot - purely for research into the story, of course - and I particularly love the subtle twist of the screen once you've been playing for about 40 seconds...

While I'm hoping this is NOT true, so far, this game looks like a blatant ripoff of Einhander, down to the strikingly similar ship design, and switchable gunpods.
I loved Einhander, and still do, and am quite saddend that anyone would try to rip it off and pass it as their own game.

does Mascio have a website? of his own im having a little trouble and not coming up with anything in my searches..
it does remind me of einhander which was an amazing game..
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

You'll also note that Einhander is a direct rip-off of R-Type, which also had a gazillion sequels. Right down to the interchangeable gun pods. There have been so many side scrollin shooters, they are all derivative.
I think the game looks very good, although there's no Mac version, of course :annoyed:

I thought of R-Type as well.....

In my chats with Dino, both R-Type and Einhander were talked about glowingly - on both sides of the conversation. He freely admits inspiration from both games along with even older sideways scrolling shoot-em-ups like Denaris, Z-Out and many others on the Amiga.
