Hi,

There was a previous thread about importing and exporting animation to/from 3DS Max and Cinema 4D. The solution was to use FBX and then go through motionbuilder to correctly interpret the fbx data before bringing the file into final program. I'm curious to know if anybody knows of a way or solution to accurately transfer camera and scene data between Max and Cinema 4D without involving a 3rd application. When I try directly importing FBX into Cinema 4D, the camera animation does not line up correctly with the Max file.

**EDIT** Seems to work with regular cameras, but not target cameras. Something gets screwed up with camera alignment in target cameras. Don't know yet if this is an import or export problem or just a difference in the way Cinema handles targets vs. 3dsmax.

here is a tip, i don't know if it will be correct, but just try it ;-)
use the SD file (the file used by realflow) plugin for c4d and max are free, and i think you can export camera data, export from cinema 4d, then import in max using sd plugin...
i don't know, but if it don't work then excuse me

I found out the problem was due to an outdated FBX plug-in for Max.

The current one can be found here:

After installing and re-exporting, I got perfect results.
