I find applying image maps to your models is quite a time consuming process and I would like to hear what is the most efficient workflow for you.

At the moment I create a new shader add a file texture node, create and save out a Photoshop file and a TIFF copy of the image into sourceimages folder, assign it to the file node in Maya, UV map the model, do some more work on the PS file, overwrite the TIFF again etc...

I was just wondering if there is a faster and more intuitive process especially if you have lots of textures. It would be great if a Photoshop and a TIFF file were automatically made for you when you make a file node in Maya for example. Is there some Photoshop action you can use that will save the PS file and prompt you for the name of the TIFF file on the first save.

Love to hear your methods. Thanks.

That's a workflow that I've used... I'm also working on a new workflow... anyway, to help with the photoshop flow you may want to check out the "Maya to Photoshop Connection" on highend3d (just go under plugins and search for Photoshop). I haven't tried it, but it looks like it may help.

A new workflow, any insight? Yeah I tried that plugin but I couldn't get it to work. It seemed really buggy.

:) Yeah a new workflow, but it costs money. I have some more testing to do. I'll let you know if I come up with anything useful.
