View Full Version : how to alligning vertices rite ?
butCherHeLL 03-14-2003, 12:38 AM
how can I alligning vertices
(are in same object but different surfaces)
along x axis.
just look out this screenshot.
http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~lana/img/untitled.jpg
I wantto do both vertices in same x value.
so what can I do ?
seems x,c,v hotkeys not useful.
or what can I do by the easy way ?

use the snapping with just one handle selected to constrain snapping to just that axis. pitty you cant do this for 2-axis constraint =(

there's a link in the sticky FAQ thread - something like how to align vertices - i anwsered this question in the linked thread

 thanks mates.
Im happy feel that some new friends interesting.
I think the snaping (align) toold should be more professional tools.
for instance <align tool...> could be work for vertice worx.
just suggestions

JUst select the 2 or vertices and scales in x or y or z depend on which axis are align your vertices.......................

This script are used by the NuClearvision Team (www.nuclearvision.de) while the creation of the
game "Psychotoxic" (www.psychotoxic.com).
What does the Script do:
The Script Snap (NO Merge) Vertices (You can also select Edges and Faces) on a spezify Axle (X,Y,Z) at the Center together.
The same can used for the UVs on the Axel U and V.

Select some verticles, then just press V and move your verticles in the axis you want to align. Put you axis cursor on the verticle you want to align the other.
A simple method :)

So what is the technic you've used?

well if ya want aligned vertices i suggest using snap to grid when ur creating the polys ;p

Butcherhell! I know exactly what you are asking. I have used 3D max for many years and their snapping function works almost flawlessly. You can constrain it to any axis you want and even to two axes if you want to. I have read Maya’s online reference for how to constrain and snap vertices, but I can’t get it to work. I can snap one vertex to another vertex, but I can’t just snap a vertex to another vertex’s x value for example.

i have already answered this question several times - it's a FAQ and the solution is in the sticky faq thread
and you don't need a script to do the job - that's all basic maya functionality

Stunndman: I tried the "trick" on another computer and it worked fine to snap. It doesn't work on my computer at home. I don't know if I have a bad version of Maya, or if some settings are wrong. It's beyond frustrating. Thanks for helping though.
