how do i go about using the camera with a laptop mouse pad thing? i used to be able to hold down the scroll button and move the mouse to swivel the camera, but now i don't have a mouse.
should i look into getting one in order to use wings3d properly?

You can set most laptops to emulate a third button --- so that if you simultaneuously right and left click, it will give you that middle-click function.

But do get a mouse; it's just too much work to try and model anything worthwhile on a little dinky touchpad --- and with a mouse you can make use of however many buttons you can afford ;)
