View Full Version : Normals Help: I dont even know what to call this problem...

I've tried a bunch of different setting combinations but I can't get it to stop producing those weird ass lines. The pic of the settings is what I used to generate these maps. Is this something that happens when you displace the mesh? I traced out the lines im talking about for you guys...

Just want to mention that this is all one UV shell and the Co ords are good.

I'll just let the picks do the rest of the talking...

Answer! Derive Axis's default setting for 3d max is what's doing it! The default is Shortest of Binormal or Tangent so just change it to tangent and you're good.

Is it frowned upon to mark your own post as useful? :P

Only if your post isn't really useful I guess, which in this case seems to be quite useful so you don't have anything to worry about.
