View Full Version : Exporting character, mesh, IK, and all from 3.9.2 to ANYTHING?!?!

HELP. I was thrown headlong into a Softimage pipeline thats around 5 years old.

I am using 3.8sp1. All I need to do, at the least, is export a skeleton. We have 3.9.2, we have maya, max, kaydara and tons of in house software and plug ins for it all....but we just can't get out anything other than "helpers" where the chains root would be.

At most we, or I, would like to export the skeleton and mesh adn bring it into MAx, Maya, or HOM Diva and throw Acclaim data at it to see how it stands up against the acclaim data we converted to ANI and imported into soft and onto the Soft 3D scene.

ANY ANY ANY help would be GREAT

I might be mistaken, but I think 3.9.2 has the dotXSI exporter.

You "should" be able to export to dotXSI and use the Maya or MAX dotXSI importer to bring that file into those packages.

You aren't mistaken, 3.9.2 has a dotXSI exporter, I exported a dotXSI and opened in EXP-XSI to see if everything was there and it was.....so then I imported that dotXSI to Max and all the bones came in as "helpers" and were only represented by the helper object being at Chain roots and joints, nothing in between.

I havnt compiled the Maya dotXSI plug in yet, I pray that works. I also have to try a Kaydara plug. I finally land a job I like and instead of learning the propietary software we use here I am using Soft 3.8 after a 4 year hiatus, I feel like I am fighting to get behind the times:applause:
