Hey everyone,

So, I´m kinda new to Maya and decided to make an animation of Spider-Man. So I modeled the character and stuff...

Here is what i´m calling "Teaser trailer" :).

Here´s the Youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM1tXDxU-B0

You´ll notice this is my fifth upload regarding this project. There are earlier videos that show more or less how the it has been evolving.

I´m posting it here to get some feedback ! The spidey model is very detailed (raised webbing as geometry, etc), but the Youtube compression takes much of it away. Well, it´s just a preview.

After the scenes in this "trailer" is when the action really will start (will make him jump from that building :bounce:). I´m still beggining that animation...I intend to keep you posted around here.

Thanks in advance for any comments !

ok less movement of spiderman himself. please post a more progessively version.

the camera is quite stiff. I suggest a movement like spiderman "flies" through the city. It´s very smooth with a strong variation in height and speed. He swings from left to right and back again. He uses much of the given topology of objects und objects itself to maintain the movement.

something more: later, when your animation reaches a state of high complexity and speed and something looks odd, we´ll get in trouble to discover the problem, cause of the bad youtube-player-abilities. there´s no frame by frame and loop function. so please upload quicktime movies for analysis.

Hi, thank you very much for your time and feedback. Highly appreciated.

You´re talking about that intro scene? Instead of just making it fly flat, give it a "Spidey-motion"?

That sounds nice, thanks. But I want to "jump in the real action" now. As I type I´m rendering the last part of this "introduction" to the whole animation and then I´ll make him jump off that building and start swinging around.

Thank you very much, any other comment is welcome.

I dont like his pose when he's standing on the building, it doesnt look natural. Also, I dont think spiderman would just be standing there. Have him crouched down overlooking the city, it seems more in-character.

I would tend to agree. If you remove the spidey outfit, there's nothing to suggest this is spiderman. I'd work on a new pose to show his character. Also, how about pulling back from the logo to reveal spiderman in his pose; it's a little more cinematic - overdone with superheroes perhaps, but would still probably be more effective than a cut to the wide shot.

I´m working on it...in this next shot I´m working on he crouches on that building and goofs around a bit, much like Spidey would do, I think...he just stretches a bit, etc.

Here´s a playblast of the scene, without any camera movement at all. Just to test the animation setup, check it out:

(Again Youtube, just because it gives me some more space to receive open comments and visibility)

There is also another new shot, which is just an extension of that first video that I posted in the original topic, here it is:

Thanks for all your input
