On Motion3 product webpage:
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/motion/features.html

"Third-Party Integration

Do you work with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator? Motion lets you import layered Photoshop graphics with blend modes and transparency intact. You can also import Illustrator vector graphics that can be continuously rasterized for clarity at any size.

For more 3D integration, Maxon’s Cinema 4D and Pixel Farm’s 3D trackers all output Motion projects directly.

Motion also supports the emerging OpenEXR standard, importing and rendering OpenEXR images at 16-bit and 32-bit float."

So does this mean c4d will output 3d data out to Motion3 projects, or is this the same Motion output we've always had?

Anyone able to comment on this?

This is NOT an official answer...

I was at NAB with Maxon, as was their developer who writes the exchange plugins. The developer is aware of the new Motion3 stuff, and Maxon is aware that people would like the exchange to be updated for Motion3.

I think we'll see that happen - my guess is that we will see it with 10.5

all guesses, all unofficial

10.5 will be released sometime between tomorrow and 1 year from tomorrow - or maybe later, but probably not any earlier

lol ^ nice ;) Although, at first when you said 10.5 I was thinking you meant OSX 10.5 aka Leopard.

Fortunately those exchange/connection updates don't always rely on Cinema 4D updates unless something in the core needs to change too, so you never know an update could come at any time. That said, it was news to maxon at NAB as it was for anyone else so I'm sure it will take some time, its also not 3D to the same extent as AE and Combustion so who knows what al will even be possible.

Well, I can't speak for Combustion; but from the demos I saw, Motion's 3D workspace trumps that of AE.
