View Full Version : Afterburn problem, 3dsmax9
Massemannen 05-06-2007, 10:32 PM Hi all!
Upgraded to 3dsmax9 a while ago and been happy with it since. But a big problem has emerged that is exremely frustrating. When I try to render, for exampel an AB explosion effect, an error comes up and no matter what I do max crashes to desktop.
This is kinda critical for me since I have an approaching deadline.
Can someone please help?

What other objects do you have in the scene? I've had some wierd issues when animating opacity of objects, or visibility... try hiding or removing those if there are any in there before rendering. Also: i've also been able to just his continue when this error pops up and have it render with no problem. I think it's been brought to the attention of sitni sati, but I don't think they've done anything about it as of yet.

I´ve tried many different scenes, but the one on the picture is a scene from Allan Mckay´s Visual effects 2 DVD...

I have had the exact same error I have reported it as many others have, it is a confirmed bug, Sitni Sati is aware of the issue. They have been real busy with the release of FumeFX and updates. Kresimer had noted that they are trying to get AB4 out around September. So my advice would be to just run with it or use max8.
90% of the time it will continue rendering the scene when you disregard the error dialog. I have had some small issues with it corrupting the scene (it doesn't seem to corrupt the scene every time) and very rarely will the render not look correct.

Tnx John! I saw on the Afterwork Afterburn forum that this is a problem not only for me...
One suggested that it had something too do when you have both AB and Fume installedm that it could cause this...
Problem is that when I select Continue, max crashes too desktop. If only I could get some result this wouldn´t bother me as much.
