View Full Version : Character: Magic Schoolgirl
Here is an image I have been working on in my spare time. It's for the cover of a role-playing book called Redhurst being produced by Human Head. (I work there making video games)
I modeled it in Maya and rendered it with Mental Ray. There is a little photoshop loving too, since I was on a tight deadline.

If you were aiming for it to look young (ie. school girl) I dont think the face fits very well. Overall though, a nice piece :)

Is it just the lighting and pose are is there asymetry to the face? If so then major bravo's to you. Either way I think this is a wonderful image. I agree she seems alittle old for a school girl if we are talking about somebody in their teens. I'm not complaining because I like it the way it is. If however you want her to appear younger I think if you bring her cheek bones in just a little it will give her a smoother, younger looking face,
Great job on the lighting and textures!!
I wasn't going for a little girl look. Think of her as a grad student schoolgirl. I modeled the face after a 25 year old so I guess that's how old she should look.

Great job! How did you do the hair? Can you show us any wires or other poses of your schoolgirl?

The pose/atmosphere/look reminds me a bit of a comic i have here. Do you know ARIA? I think this was the name!

Here eyes look off and not in a good way. It's really weird, something about them. That's the first thing that pops out at me.

Lerppierdood, the hair was done in post. In the wire frame you see the orginal hair. I didn't like it and didn't have enough time to change it so it's photoshoped.
Prayas, I have never seen Aria.
Your right about the eyes Kyphur. I think I exaggerated the eye lens to much and it's refracting them strangely. I might just change that before it's taken to the printers.
Here is the wire frame of the scene.
