Hi guys.

When I turn on my computer, it comes up a black information screen with white lettering, the BIOS screen I believe. At the bottom of the screen it says "Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM: _"

The underscore is flashing so I guess it wants me to type in something to allow my machine to boot. But I don't know what to do here.

When I try typing the machine seems to make a clicking noise, but I can't type anything. This machine was inherited from my aunt so I don't have any original disks for it.

If anyone knows what I need to do can you please help. I have important files on the machine that I need to get.

Windows XP Pro
p4 1.8Ghz

Sorry guys.

I opened the CD drawer and there was a blank DVD disc in there. When I removed the disc windows booted.

Thanks to anyone who was going to reply.

agreed, hilarious :applause:

for future note, that wasn't the BIOS screen. BIOS screen comes up if you press the "Delete" key (on most motherboards) during the Post screen (when it says what processor you have, how much ram and such). Its usually a blue or grey background and you can navigate it with the arrow keys on your keyboard.
