in max 5, can you get uvw map info from a collapsed mesh?
there is a way to get rid of a uvw map from a mesh after its flattened, but is there a way to get the map back after its converted to editable mesh?

If you collapse a mesh all of the UVW coordinates are burnt into the Editable Mesh/Poly result and can be accessed once again by adding an Unwrap UVW modifier to the node. To remove the UVW coordinates completely use the Remove UVW Utility.
