Title: He Used to Have a Yard
Name: Aaron Ebersole
Country: USA
Software: Painter

This here depicts a character who used to have a yard, but then it sank... and now he has a boat. It took somewhere in the vicinity of 12 hours to complete, most of which was time spent staring and contemplating.

It was done entirely in Painter 8 with no references other than for the "Bug". Definitely check out the full size view on this one, cause it's pretty big.

The image in its original 1200x1700 format with slightly less compression can be viewed on my page at Deviantart.com if you're interested.

I hope you enjoy it. Any and all comments are always welcome!

Very nice!
I like the special atmosphere of your painting. The green is beautifull.
I think Tim Burton will be pleased to have this for one of his next movies! ;)

I love the whimsy and stylization of this piece. It makes you wonder about the story behind all of it. Strong mood and good use of minimal lighting.

I found this via your avatar on another thread, I thought it was gonna be interesting... and boy did you deliver! The green is exquisite, the depth had me mesmerised for quite some time hunting around for little bits in the story, which by the way is genius. I envy your grasp of conceptualisation here, look forward to more.

Excellent picture. Tell me.. did you begin with a blank sheet and a sketch?

Thank you! This was actually all-digital. I started with a green canvas, added cloudy variations in color all around, and then layered forward from there.

what more it impressed me was the creativity of the image, is prezerozo to look at for it!

fascinating!

Hi Aaron, I like your design aesthetics. I have been wanting to try a Tim Burton inspired piece. Your works are a great place to start looking for inspiration. The simplicity of them all reeks of many stories to tell!

Thanks for sharing!
