View Full Version : character: lichtwesen (light being)
I've started texturing the hand of a model, a "light being" that is.
only worked on the color map so far, some details are a bit off (ie life lines on the palm), color map on the upper side and model tweaking at the finger nails...
more to come soon from that and the rest of the character :)

Sieht (abgesehen von den Fingernägeln) echt super aus, weiter so
Welche Software???
cANt: thanks! :)
that is right. the finger nails do need some more attention. that is one of the next things I have to fix.
the software I use is lw7.5
here is shot of her head at the current state - with some really wide opened eyes.

Is this supposed to be hair? If it's a towel or something covering her head, its looking fine, but far hair it's way too gruff...
 Prost!!!

great texture did you uv map it and then added a bump map on the texture. but i think you need to still fix the texture
cANt: prost indeed, but no... it is not supposed to be hair. damn you :wip:
(ein feines tüchlein sollts sein :)
thanks for the comments!
the models are uv mapped and well.. with the textures, I am getting somewhere.
I had a go at the front side of the hand and came up with the pic below. also tweaked the nails and area.. its still not that great but think its better than before ;)

hey, hi Wiro! long time no see!
updates. I try, I try.. will "work" harder ;)
the status of the light being. textured the cloth and while working on it had to realize that you only see the bumps at higher resolutions (and btw. nice is.. using two different scaled uv maps for the same model).

Still, the being has a strange look and a stiff neck, hope to get some more life into it with a pose later. the hair needs some more attention at the end, also the shader is abit awkward.
any comments are appreciated! =)
the touch of light emitting and glowing underneath the cloth is next :)
not much for an update, only changed the lighting so far.

Just great
Only critic. Work a bit on the area just around the eyes, that was the only point I could find ;) They look a bit cut out or something, dunno how to descibe...

Im not sure if its the angle but compared to the length of the arms the legs look a lil short

Hey, im most interested in your cloth, im wondering how you modled it, geometry or plugin.
i think that you would do well to add an opactiy map to your cloth. esp because this is a light being, light showing through the cloth will probably look cooler and make it seem more like cloth (fibers and all) it feels to me like its plastic pressed to add texture.
good luck, have fun
cANt: thanks for the comment! I know what you mean. the eyes are opened quite a bit and there are no eyelashes at the moment. so it seems almost as the are about to pop out, will work on that one.
Too_Animalistic: looks allright to me, although, they might be short, maybe just a wee bit : )
Chaos Maximus: the cloth was modelled. It does look a bit static and could need some more chaotic movement in it.
I was going to try how it would look as if light was comming through the cloth and have to find a good way without going mad with the rendering times.. hope that will make the cloth look more vibrant.
thanks for the comments. cu soon!
Wow, great results emerging! The cloth looks really nice allthough the second render shows quite some aliasing. Nice, soft colors though, I like it!
What I don't understand though is what the term Lichtwesen/Lightbeing has to do with this character. I expected it to be a solid glow of light. In fact, why don't you make the body self illuminated and glowing (and like mentioned also glowing out of the cloth?). That would save you on those popping eyes too ;)
But maybe I'm missing a point here so apologies if I do.
Great stuff nonetheless.
Take care Naz!
