hi folks,

is there a way to control the kerning of individual characters in the mograph-text-object?
i dont want to split the words into single characters. but the font i shall use is damn bad designed.

i didnt speak clearly.
i know there is a horizontal spacing available.
what i need is to make different spacings for different characters in one word.

any ideas, anybody?
i thought maybe itīs possible with expresso?
but i dont know how.

thx

Hi,

You can control lines, words and letters with effectors; maby a stepEffector with Spline functionGraph contoling the letter kerning? off the top of my hat i don't think you can control letters in a word with XPresso.

not via xpresso, only ways to kern are:

1)make each letter a seprate object and kern manually in 3D space, not so ideal

2)make text in app like illustrator, export ans AI (verison 8) file, and import into cinema. you will find none of the apps really have advanced text editors with complex kerning and leading, this is partially because the rules dont' quite apply the same in 3D anyways, perspective destroys the concept of kerned silhouettes.

i didnt want to go the two ways you describe.
but eventualy i found a method via a small cool app called typetool3.
itīs 99$ and itīs worth it.
now i can make my corrections to the font itself.
after creating a new font with special kerning i can use them in mograph textobject.
itīs not the most elegant way but it worked out perfectly.
thank you all....
cheers
