Hi,

I'm new here! Here's something I have been working on lately. I have been away from XSI for a year and this is my "come back" character. I'm curently in the texturing phase. :D I'll keep you posted when I have her completly textured.

Krecelle and her instrument. Done for my portfolio. All modelled in XSI 3.0

Here's the design:

wow. VERY nice sketch and VERY nice transition from sketch to 3D. cant see much wrong with it. maybe only that her shoes are more "puffy" than in the sketch making the feet looks a bit clunky. but thats really just a minor minor point.

Thanks Sunlion and Stimpy :)

Maybe you're right about the shoes. I'll see if I find time to tweak them after I'm done texturing..I kind of like them puffy like that!:D

I'll have a textured version soon. Maybe tomorow!
later,

I think tis lovely work. I believe you could safely move onto texturing.

Welcome to cgtalk.

Great style you got there. Looks very natural like it's made out of putty. So what does she keep in the Krecelle?

Thank's!

Krecelle is her name and the big instrument beside her is her home. She travel around with it to play music from country to country.

textured version coming up soon!:bounce:

this is sweet i love the style and look. The instrument is super cool. you kinda got a dr. suess look to everything. can't wait to see the textured version. This would be a great model to animate any plans for rigging it?

great stylized model. the nose is bugging me though. The model is missing the nostrils. I think the character's face would be much more effective with them. Love the contrast of the big instrument and little girl.

Hi!
thanks for the comments!

TDMACK: Thanks! I always enjoyed curving everything and giving a life to usually lifeless objects. Ya I rigged her but don't know if she'll ever get animated. I'm not really an animator.. :hmm:

requiem: thank you, on the drawing I wanted to make a big bump for her nose but I only ended up doing it in 3D. Also, the nostrils are there you just can't see them with this render. You'll see them better in the textured version with a better lighting too!

[DSmod]Tweak: Thanks! My idea is exactly that..kind of. I want to make illustrations giving her different poses and do matte painting as a background. And maybe make a children book.

hey.. welcome back and great job... i think that the only thing i would say is that the scetching gives the impression that the nose is a smaller and pointier than your models nose.. it doesnt look bad at all! but i think the little pointy nose would ad to the cutness of the model and keep truer to your sketch.. or at least my interpretation of yuor sketch... what ever value that may be... keep it up!!!

Your knose didn't seem to come out right, otherwise ur scetch seemed oldschool (ocarna of time) zelda but the model seems to be a bit off.. I am not sure what is diffrent and its bugging me cuase i LOVED ur scetch, I think the arms come into play possibly... otherwise its nice.

this is cute......i love the design:thumbsup:

the only thing im not sure about is the bluryness of the textures....i'd like to see the instrument wood crisper or more surface detail in the geometry.

keep up the good work:wavey:

i think the nose is just fine, it seems to be the camera angle that makes it look weird in that one pic, because in the other two it looks as cute as in the sketch.

i do have to agree about the textures though, while i do lover their handpainted feeling they have something blurry and low-res-nish about them

Very nice. The textures really bring the character and her instrument alive.
The modelling is quite good too, though I would like to point out that the sloope of the ears might do to be moved be moved back some. And it looks like you didn't put the nostrils into the nose, although there is a pair in the concept.

Other than that, it is really great. I eagerly await the background.

Hi and thanks for all the feedback!

Some of you were right about the textures being a little blurry. So I played around and added scratches to the texture of her instrument. I brought the displacement higher as well.

For her nose, I changed my mind while modeling her in 3D. Sorry people but it won't change ;)

Visit my website to see the final result as well as some more camera angles.

Thanks Darius. Well I kind of changed the design a bit from 2D to 3D.
I think it might also be because of the camera angle that makes you think she's sad....
