Hi,

I'm looking for a way to achieve a typewriter-ish effect with C4D. I have a couple of sentences, and I would like to make its letters appear one by one. I haven't found a straightforward way of doing this, except by keyframing every next letter in the text entry field of the spline text or Mograph text object. There's also the option of throwing every individual letter in a Cloner Object and then animating the number of clones, but that's not a handy solution as the text needs to be translated into a couple of different languages, like for instance Arab. Do you know of another, less cumbersome way of doing this?

Cheers,
BaRa

ahm quick one is using shader effector set with scale to -1 and falloff set to linear traveling horizontaly...

is it 3d text?
if you can use a animated texture, Motion can create that effect with ease.

Other wise can you edit the visibility of the text and adjust the timings of the on and off.

I'll try that - thanks :)

Unfortunately, we have no access to motion. Animating the visibility of the text is not an option, as you would have to do it for ever single letter. But thanks for the feedback :)

You can also expose the letters with an animated boole.

There is a Typewriter effect in the MoGraph Preset at Cineversity:

Yes, that's what I did first, but the problem with that is that the letters "slide" into view.

Awesome! Nice one...but be sure to rotate the the Shader Effector 180 degress so the text appears from Left to Right to spell out your word.

Really nice work...thanks for sharing! :)

Blowing the dust off the archives, here's yet another option. User Data are on the XPresso tag.

Darter, man, you and the other file-whipping-up, generous people on this board (most recently Lennart and Rantin' Al, and always Sadie, and then there's George Drakakis, Srek, Tim Clapham, base80, Mike Batchelor and another 50 that I'm missing) are shaking the foundations of my misanthropy. It's a hard, anomizing, grueling process, but you guys are leading me to the light, to the realization that there are stellar people out there and that humanity has a chance.

I always look for your posts because more often than not, there's a little gem in there to save to my Useful Shinguses folder. Beer's on me, mate...if and when I ever make it to Oz.

Thanks govinda, that sure is one elite list to be mentioned in the same sentence as. Anyway, it's always good to know that others find my bits-and-pieces useful.

Well, then there would be TWO Cinema 4D users in Australia!

Thanks for the appreciation Govinda.
I'm just feeding back a little help where I can to the community which has given me plenty.

Cheers, Alan.
