Does anyone have any interesting ideas on working on mirrored subds.
You can instance it and neg scale it that fine but i like to turn on the subdiv components so you can see the verts and edges at the same time. Problem is when you do that it does it for both the surface and the neg instance ... I hate that

wouldn't it be nice to see the change on the mirror with out the comp display being there

For poly's I usually just instance half of the object, then template it. That keeps vert, edge, and face selections from highlighting on the instanced half.

If you're not instancing, I think you could use the: Display>Subdiv Components> Verts, Edges, etc. toggles to turn display of those items on and off as needed.

I'm going to answer my own ? here

you can copy you subD model and neg scale it
then take the shape node of the sub you plan to work on and connect its "out Subdiv" to the mirrored subs "create" attr (also in the shape node)

this seem to work great
the advantage: As compared to an instance

you can put the mirror on a different layer
if you toggle verts, edges, etc it only toggles on the base sub not the mirror
