View Full Version : super noob question
singularity2006 03-13-2003, 07:31 AM I'm trying to get some text into my video but the text comes out pretty shoddy ... blurry compared to photoshop. What's happening?
And my audio has a lot of cracks and pops... I'm recording @ stereo 16bit... but lotsa crack and popping even though the original mp3 has no such noise... ideas?

Check that your layer quality is not draft, should be best. Allmost everytime the default value is off.
Another way is importing those psd files to after fx as an comp. Maybe easier way to work with larger text layouts.

sometimes crappy looking text in after effects is because people bring text in the same size or smaller. always try to bring it in too big, and then scale down, usually helps

excellent, thanks for the tip. I've been bringing them in as is without resizing.
Hi singularity,
Check if your mp3 file is Constant or Variable bit rate, maybe this is the problem, if it keeps giving you trouble convert him to aiff or wave, they are better formats for this sort of work.
About the text man, you can turn on the quality switcher to on, usually helps if you are working with downsampling (scaling him down), if you need to scale them to a bigger size then do them bigger in PS and always switch the quality to best mode, the render last longer but got better results and much less problems.
There is no reason to scale down a bigger layer to get better quality, this will just increase your render time, and will not bring better results.
Another thing you might check is which typo of smooth are you using in Photoshop when you create your text.
If you have effects applied to the text like bevel and emboss and others not supported in AE always merge them, I have a action to render PS effects in my page in case you have interest.
Some PS layer effects that are supported by AE might increase or mess your compositing workspace by creating another layers for them, if you don't need to animate separated layers of effects merge them first in PS, might help to keep a cleaner structure in AE layers and save you some very litlle time in rendering time.
I hope that helps!
