I'm still a little confused on which one to get gforce 4 series or radeon 9700. I'm going to be in Maya and After Effects. But also want to play games. please help me determine. thanks.

I've heard of ATI's consumer cards not working well with the proffessional 3D programs, artifacting mainly. Though ATI cards are well known for 2S work (after effects).

It's not gonna make much difference in AE, as it is not OpenGL accelerated any more than your desktop is.

For Maya the better bet would be a Ti4600.

do you find that ti4600 works well in maya without softquadro4 patched drivers? or would you recommend the conversion?
