What the hell???

People that received less votes than others are winning first prizes for what reason?? didn't the public vote counts???

Sorry you didn't like my entry man... hopefully my next attempt will be more in your tastes (as for what it is...read my thread hehe, I am to lazy to type it all out here...)

I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive and helping me out so much, and then voting for me, thats super cool!

Hope my next project is even half as well received.

just an example for the 3d Contest
M@ did a great job, the model was stunning, but the overall design/appeal and presentation was (in my eyes) boring. The skin looked like rubber, the design reminds me on "Planet of the Apes", the character by fetus was new invented, not an animal of this planet, cool textured, posed and presented, i hope you know what i mean

and cangrats to you king mob :)

Ok let me try to break this down to those that simply don't understand how things work. It would've appreciated you all asked how things work before assuming things.

Bascially we have sponsors to cater too, if we went with the public favorites we would never have the proper results for the following reasons:

1) People open multiple accounts to vote for themselves, the day the challenge voting started we had over 300 new members

2) The council is there to keep things fair when it comes to voting, we have no favorites we vote on how close the artists came to the rules and how well it was excuted.

3) The public votes play a part yes, but not to the extent of warranting prizes from them, if that was the case Favorites will always win! This is why this system was invented, to AVOID having the same people win due to their names.

btw the members on the council can't even win a prize,
This is a community event we help everyone to excel here, this is why I stay up till 3am in the morning organizing/updating/contacting the sponsors and generally trying to keep most of you happy. If you had any idea what we have planned for the challengers that placed well in the public voting, this griping would stop immediately, I assure you.

And we really appreciate those that give us thanx and appreciation, it gives us the momentum to keep it going.

One thing I always say, some of you neglect to see why the challenges exist, this is supposed to be fun, educational e.t.c we put the voting system up for you guys to have fun and see where the "favorites" are

So just relax and have fun.

And you know what the ironic thing is? The winners we have choosen were quite happy when the saw the final results. They didn't even have a gripe at all, wildsheepchase was quite happy.. ;)

Hey lildragon

I am sure he was :) Well that certainly clear's things up. The community is far too big to police everyone. I prefer you're system then expecting everyone to be honest (like that would happen).

Agreed, the prizes are a added bonus to the real prize : learning. Don't take it personal. Some people were curious.

Sorry for being so rude, I just didn't know how things work as you said.

This was my very fisrt challenge, and I had a lot of fun, of course. I'm a fan of you guys of CGtalk that works in the backstages, bringing us this huge community, and I'm really sorry about all that people being members just for messing with the voting.

Thanks for replying Tino.

Salud you.

No harm done guys, its just I get the same type of questions through emails. Heh maybe I should make that as a part of a FAQ or something ;). Anyhoo like I said, learning is half the Battler... G.I. Joe! erm nevermind

have a good weekend all
