View Full Version : Reflection Question...

Hello...

Basically, I'm a dabbler in C4D, and need a little help on a project...

I'm currently trying to get some shiny boxes to look good in C4D on a white floor, with some reflection, the boxes are bright pink, very reflective.

See the image below, this is one of the mock-ups. Forget the people, just the boxes and the floor. Hopefully someone will take pitty on me and point me in the right direction.

I've tried various basic settings, but keep finding that the reflections aren't looking great, or I can't get the floor to be white... Maybe I need to do some work in after effects (this is fine as I'm much better in after effects than I am in C4D)

Ok cheers,

use the free distance falloff shader to create a falloff of your reflections. with regards the floor whiteness you could use a compositing tag set to compositing background on your floor, but then the reflections wont be so good as they're additive and adding to white will result in noth much at all, instead you should work to make sure that you reflect a white or light background and the addition of that reflection plus the surface color will achieve white, the lighter the surface color the less strong the reflections of your boxes will be.

Thanks Anders,

I've hit a stumbling block with the first things...

Looks like all of the links to download from Plugin Cafe have stopped working. We are checking into it."
I don't suppose you know any alternative places to get hold of the falloff plugin?

And yes, you are correct, white floor = no reflection. Thanks for the tips, if you have anymore ideas, I'd like to hear :D

Thanks,

Rob.

You'll have to do a google search for it, the plugin is still up last time i checked (a couple of days ago), i'm not sure what's happened to the links on the c4d plugins site though.

You can also crank up the dispersion per example.

You will find the plugin here (http://savards.fuzehost.com/shad_detail.php?ArticleID=4), at the bottom of the page.

to make the floor as white as possible while maintaining good reflections, add an environment channel with a simple white color shader in the texture field
and leave the exclusive checked
that'll brighten up everything except reflections
