Hi all ...

I work on varius characters for my game characters reel,
this model is base enemy for a hypothetical third person shooter game (i make 2 player characters and one mid-boss soon for "fake" ingame videos and cinematic sequence)

Sorry for my english, i try to learning it well in this period.

now here te simple concept :

and te first low poly try.

i try to start the high-poly version this afternoon.

Wow, no comments on this? I think it's looking very promising. I can't wait to see the high-poly and texture! It feels nice and solid and reads well for a low-poly base.

Yeah the meshflow and the pose are very well done! go on with textures!

From the look of the model, the torso seems to look pretty good. I'd go back and remodel the head though. The face plate doesn't look like it has any room for the soldier's face and the top of the hat breaks the good poly flow that you have in the torso. I think the legs might need to be lengthened a tad bit and you should ge rid of those single plan extrusions at the heel. It's going to give you some seam lines when you texture. I'd say paint it in or model it in.

@blacker and iLegacy thx for support :)

@yoyomon thx for tips the legs are very short! hehe , for the helmet and other solid part they are just a reference model , i make final lowpoly model on high res model for the best poly optimization anyway thx for suggestions .

-little update i have make the highres torso

uff i think to have finish the high poly models , is around 3.200.000 triangles.

today i start to fix the low poly model and try to start first normalmap generation test.

Creepy. Good stuff, and the speed at which you did it is quite impressive.

maybe you could make him metal hands, i think a dead guy hasnt the best fine motor skills, and it were easyer for a company to replace the "hardware" by a ceaper good working mechanical thing like u did on the feet

ähhh i hope you understand, what i want to say^^

for Ramseus : thx :) for comment :) , i just work @ my reel full time (like 10 hour day)

for arrangemonk : is a good tips I take it on mind for my future concept or revision :) (i read your post after i make diffusion texture :P).

Daily update :) i make some test whit first texture and opengl/directx 9 materials

here the opengl white wireframe :

Wow it turned out great!

however a good spec map would bounce this model of the charts!

This is looking awesome. I love the eyepiece bits on the helmet that look like creepy eyeballs. :D I'll be eagerly awaiting a specmap now. :)

One thing caught my eye though: what's up with those grenades? It looks like you subd'd a geosphere or something. Wouldn't a sphere or even a subd'd cube maybe be a little more efficient?

Looking really nice. That thing is ugly! I might have nightmares

for Juddwack and CGmonkey Thanks :)
for LoTekk thx:) the granades are a subdivided octahedron, i need to replace with simple octahedron sphere (octahedron is better than sphere why it has all the faces formed by triangles).

this is the final version of diffuse map,i make it more darker on metals parts and add a urban cammo on pants, new specular work good but i need to understand how this directx shader works! (maybe someone know how make a directx10 shader on xsi or know some tutorials for it?)
Soon i make it a weapons and envelope for some beauty render and turneable video

How do you do a directX render?

Livio3d
05-10-2007, 10:38 PM
just a viewport screen capture :) , anyway xsi have a hardware render option (for directx and opengl).
