CGTalk - Sponge Texture?

I'm working on a SquarePants Sponge Bob animation right now, but i'm into some texture problems regarding the "Sponge Skin" texture to apply on his body!
Does anyone have any idea on how to have a nice texture for the model?

I'm posting some animations on the wip section when i get some nice texture results...
By the way i'm a Maya user so any maya'ns help would be great!

He's a cartoon character. His skin is all yellow. :)
